Yesterday saw me standing on a turf field at Hershey Stadium covering Susquehannock High School’s PIAA state title game against Pottsgrove. A day that started sunny and near 65 degrees, turned wet and raw. Pouring rain and winds that had to be gusting near 60 mph brought a temporary halt to the game in the first half. I really didn’t get any game action photos that were worthy of publication but I happened to be at the right spot for the celebration that ensued following Susquehannock’s second half goal, that would end up meaning the first state championship victory in boys soccer for any York County team.
Today started and ended brisk but dry, cold, but at least not wet. Borrowing my buddy’s 400mm 2.8, I shot over 1,000 frames during York College’s NCAA mens soccer match against John Hopkins University. Both teams played hard and exceptional work by both goalies put the match into double overtime and then into a shoot-out.
York ended up loosing the match, not by an error on the goalie, but by a shoot-out kick that completely missed the net.
