I saw Sean swim during a recent holiday invitational meet. It was during the 200 freestyle relay, which my son Tony was swimming in. Way down in lane six I saw all this splashing going on and for a moment, I thought a swimmer was drowning. I then realized that this swimmer was special. So did most everyone else, swimmers, and spectators alike.
Sean Brame, 14, is a quad numeral amputee and a member of the Red Land swim team. A minor sports injury when he was nine ended with Sean in a coma for about a month and waking to the fact that doctors had to amputate both of his legs, his right hand, and all the digits on his left except his pointer finger.
Sean is an inspiration to anyone who meets him and I feel privileged for the chance to meet and interview him.
